George Seferis (1900-1971) lived in London for considerable periods throughout his life. His poem Fog was the outcome of his first stay during the period of summer of 1924 and February 1925. As a diplomat he was posted to London in August 1931 for three years and then again in April 1951; from June 1957 until August 1967 he was appointed Greek Ambassador in Great Britain.
