Dorchester, Dorset: The Grand Vision for Poundbury

Feature article in the Dorset Echo by Harry Hogger

"The Duchy of Cornwall’s estate director Simon Conibear says 2015 is set to be the busiest year yet for Prince Charles’ model development as some of its landmark buildings take shape".

In spite of the continuing popularity and undoubted success of Poundbury, some critics seem to prefer the architecture and housing estates of the 1950s and 1960s. See this letter to The Times, of February 6, 2015, as a typical example:

Councillors reject plan for executive houses adjacent to Great Field (Dorset Echo)

"Councillors based their rejection on an objection that had already been raised by Dorchester town council, citing the loss of open space, the impact on the character of the area and on neighbouring properties, flood risk and the obstruction of views of the trees forming the existing boundary of the field".
