It was good to catch up with Dr. Ian Chessell in Corfu Town today. A most enjoyable lunch! Ian, an Australian physicist, was Chief Defence Scientist of Australia from 2000 to 2003
He loves Corfu and he has many research interests in the history of the Ionian Islands. We talked of Solomos, Kalvos, the Durrells, Consul Spiridion Foresti and Consul Strané (at Zante)
Ian is also an admirer of the novels of George Johnston (see my Hydra postings).
Among Ian's publications:
Britain’s Ionian Consul: Spiridion Foresti and Intelligence Collection(1793-1805).C. I. Chessell (pdf)
Britain's Ionian Consul: Spiridion Foresti and Intelligence Collection (1793-1805), January 2006, Journal of Mediterranean Studies 16(1), C.I. Chessell
