Not long after 9am, this morning, billowing clouds of acrid smoke, and the crackling sound of burning, alerted us to a nearby house-fire. I didn't explore which side- street it was coming from (I was starting to pack some essentials, preparing to evacuate), as fire engines were soon on the scene and bringing the fire under control.
In the afternoon:
A small old house, but the fire could have spread very quickly
