John Bull's Other Europe; English 'Outsiders', European 'Others'


Fast forward to the Brexit referendum: dialogue from Bernard Shaw's John Bull's Other Island (1904), placed by Colin Wilson as an epigraph facing the start of the first chapter of The Outsider (1956).




Could it simply be the case that a small majority of UK citizens are natural born-and-bred outsiders?

Bernard Shaw's play is about Ireland. What would he have had to say about Brexit?
