Ian Bleasdale:" I have finished my Book titled SALVATOR LOCATED in which I have attempted to unravel the walks Archduke Ludwig Salvator made all over the Island in the 1880s with modern-day photographs of (nearly) all the buildings he sketched. Included are Maps showing his routes and identifying - I hope - the place names he recorded... It is available for £24.00 or €32 including postage and will also be in the Gaios Bookshop". Ostrias Escarpment, above Avlaki Creek- a spot to which we always return .

The paths have become overgrown and many dry stone walls have fallen since our last visit.
 Some have been repaired.

Nina and Alex are a quarter Paxiot - their maternal grandmother, Penelope Strani (Popi; née Bogdanou) came from Bogdanatika,  Paxos

 - "tou Barboula" (family paratsoukli/distinguishing nickname) -  του 'Μπάρμπουλα

Popi's name is inscribed here as a memorial of her Paxiot origins - she is buried in Corfu.

"On Paxos there are really no villages, only groups of houses of one family, so that the members of all those houses have the same name. Everyone in Bogdanatika is a Bogdanos" (translation Margarita Luzzatto, 2011).

With Stamatis Boikos (aged 98): "I'll give up smoking when I'm 100!"

Archduke Ludwig Salvator:
