Vicky Pryce Trial

Little compassion from The Telegraph, and a few stereotypes?

"Vicky Pryce trial: The Greeks have a word for it...

The English, public school-educated Huhne probably realised that he would be no match in open court for his Greek wife, whom blind fury had turned from respected senior civil servant and Companion of the Order of the Bath into Clapham’s answer to Clytemnestra.

How did a brilliant and respected woman like Vicky Pryce turn into the vengeful Fury who was convicted of perverting the course of justice yesterday?"

Vicky Price was born Vasiliki Courmouzis, in Athens. The court case has certainly diverted attention away from the economy and potential sterling crisis.

And from the Sunday Times News Review, article by Isabel Oakeshott (10 March):

"There was a complete absence of affection or concern in his voice. Vicky's language also jarred: expletives spat out in increasingly hysterical tones in her distinctive Greek accent."

Update: when sentencing her, the Judge stated that any element of tragedy was entirely her own fault.
