Corfu Map

This map has been warmly recommended to me, although I haven't seen it myself. All in a good cause.

  1. This map is already over a decade old and as reliable as any I've come across. No doubt the Greek military have better but Stephan's work which as you may know was at one point stolen from him by the first Greek publisher he employed, was a brilliant labour of love. In the early days of sat-nav he criss-crossed the island for about three years on foot, scooter and 4x4 mapping just about every road and track and path there was. Where there have been changes it has been very easy to make neat emendations. I think it's very good value for money and am amazed you had not come across it before...http://democracystreet.blogspot.co.uk/search?q=stephan

  2. Helpful comment, thanks Simon. I have so many maps of Corfu, from World War 2 onwards, that I probably didn't feel the need for any more. My loss. I didn't know about it, as it happens.I still haven't acquired the Ordnance Survey maps for Dorset, which may explain why I don't offer to lead walks...

  3. Point taken. I love maps but don't want others to use them to find the places I want to explore and discover. Did you know those definitions: explorer - goes into the unknown and maps it; traveller - use the maps of the explorer to find their own routes across what has been discovered; tourist - guided through a route created by a traveller. 4. I hate to put myself in the tourist category: but I'm not much of a "pathfinder" or a "trailblazer" these days.
