Corfu's Garbage Nightmare: Gradual Refuse Collection 'Has Begun'; Tragicomedy

It began at 6pm today (according to sources).

How many weeks will it take, at the slow rate of collection that is implied?

Having baled it up, where will they put it?

Λειτουργεί ο Δεματοποιητής;

Does the baling machine even work? It would seem that it does not.

It would need a modern Aristophanes to dramatize and satirize this absurd tragicomedy.

Ask the still-unpaid (non-permanent) staff who worked as garbage collectors and dustmen....

Update: stalemate with the refuse, Corfu TV News

"In the beautifully preserved Old Town of Corfu, a UNESCO world heritage site, Renaissance, Baroque and Classical “repertoire” came to be successfully applied to local artistic traditions. Palaces, fortresses, austere public buildings of the Venetian rule uniquely blend with lines of drying washing in tiny alleyways and small secluded squares. Strolling through a complex of narrow cobbled streets with stairways and vaulted passages, the so-called “kantounia”, will make you feel as if you’ve travelled to Genoa or Naples".

And?
