Hamlet (On Stage In The Cinema)

Glad I went to watch it.

Very convincing performances by Benedict Cumberbatch as Hamlet, and Anastasia Hille as his mother Gertrude.

I thought this controversial stage production had more impact and resonance (and far better projection of the spoken word) than the highly cinematic 2015 film of "Macbeth" (trailer here)...at least in Act One.

Lyn Gardner (The Guardian):  "Benedict Cumberbatch's Hamlet comes into its own on the screen - Lyndsey Turner’s monumental Barbican production, broadcast to a global audience last night by NT Live, has visual swagger and an infinitely touching prince".

A much better production than suggested by Michael Billington in The Guardian
