Did Johnny become a Belgian national? His father was Belgian, his mother French. He once expressed interest in becoming a Belgian citizen.

He will be much missed in the French-speaking world; sadly, he wasn't so well-known in Anglophone countries, even though there was no official radio playtime quota for English or French language songs (in France 40% of the songs played on the radio had to be in French, apparently).
