"Fracking in Greece would be an environmental disaster. One only has to look at the industry record in the United States. Contaminated ground water/aquifers, hundreds of thousands of litres of contaminated waste water and sand from the fracking process that are not so easily disposed of and frequent earthquakes in the range of 3 to 4 Richter in areas where there has been no previous recorded seismic activity of any significance until fracking began. What does this have to do with food, specifically Greek food? Greek traditional cooking has always been based on fresh, local, seasonal ingredients mostly sourced from the goodness of the Greek countryside, but what good is any of that if the natural environment from which it comes, the water and soil are contaminated with pollutants resulting from the very messy and toxic activity of fracking?"
