Avlaki, Paxos (near Bogdanatika)

The little cove (creek) of Avlaki, below Ostrias Escarpment, near Bogdanatika, is one of my favourite spots in the Ionian Islands. It is reached at the end of a delightful path of drystone walls, amongst the olive groves, past an ancient stone cistern.

My real place of predeliction?

The map detail comes from the highly recommended Bleasdale Walking Map of Paxos.

The impressionistic sketch comes from Archduke Ludwig Salvator's "Paxos und Antipaxos" (1887)- the most expensive book I've ever bought. More than the cost of an olive tree, for sure.
