Stranded on Corfu! Ferry strike; Seamen's and Port Workers' Federation; Πανελλήνια Ναυτική Ομοσπονδία

Major problems leaving the island by car ferry after Greek Easter holidays - strike and backlog.

"Seamen and port workers have separately called a four-day strike from 6am local time on 6 May until 6am on 10 May. This strike will disrupt all ferry and port operations throughout mainland Greece and its islands. You should contact your ferry operator for further advice". Gov. UK Travel Advice

Πανελλήνια Ναυτική Ομοσπονδία - Panellenia Naftiki Omospondia:

The Pan-Hellenic Seamen’s Federation announced that it will hold a four-day strike in Greece in all ship categories from 6 am on Friday, May 6, until 6 am on Tuesday, May 10

Just one example - 10 buses with Bulgarian citizens stranded on the Greek island of Corfu

I hear from a Corfiot friend that speed-boat owners in Igoumenitsa and Corfu did a roaring trade transporting people in both directions between Plataria (Epirus) and Lefkimi (Corfu). Luckily the sea was calm.
