Celebrating Harvest at St. Peter's, Winterborne Came; William Barnes, Thomas Hardy, Laurie Lee

A beautiful service at a full St. Peter's Church this morning, conducted by The Reverend Anthony Bush. Outstanding readings of William Barnes' poems by Barbara Whillock, Tim Laycock, David Downton, Brian Caddy and Charles Buckler, members of the William Barnes Society. Delightful singing by the choral group Jam Please, and by Tim Laycock. The congregation joined in a splendid rendition of Linden Lea, giving it their all. The Revd. Anthony Bush called for the last verse to be sung a second time. George Titley read the lesson. There were many children present, and members of the local community.

Many congratulations to those who had the inspirational idea and organised this uplifting event, especially to Devina Symes. St. Peter's Church, WinterborNewsne Came, is very far from being redundant. It is hoped that this will become an annual event.
