Ipsos, Corfu: Susannah York's Favourite Hotel in the 1960s

 Ipsos in the 1960s

And the best hotel you've stayed in?
Probably one of the most charming was a tiny little family-run hotel in Ipsos before Corfu became what it is now. It was just after I'd finished filming Tom Jones in 1963. The hotel was very simple - running hot water was someone running in with a kettle - and the people were lovely.

What do you need for a perfect holiday?

Sun - I do love sun - and a really good companion who has a sense of adventure and exploration. I don't need luxury or anything like that.

(from 'Susannah York's heaven and hell', Susannah York talks to Caroline Shearing about her best and worst holidays).

The Hotel Kostas still operates in Ipsos.
