Greece: 21st World Travel Awards, 2014; Corfu voted "Europe's Leading Beach Destination"

"World Tourism Awards aim to reward and celebrate excellence across all sectors of the global tourism industry. Founded in 1993, World Tourism Awards is known as “the Oscars of the travel industry.”

The awards to Greek tourism companies show the high level of tourism services in Greece. The Acropolis in Athens won the title of Europe’s Leading Tourist Attraction. The island of Corfu was honored as Europe’s Leading Beach Destination and Aegean Airlines won Europe’s Leading Regional Airline".

The votes are cast by travel agents worldwide. Corfu has been nominated many times for this award.

The 2014 Europe Gala Ceremony was held in Athens on 2nd August.
