It was a perfect day at Barbati Beach yesterday, and I enjoyed the best swims of the year. There were only a few people left on the beach, and very few sun-beds. No need for umbrellas. The atmosphere was perfectly clear after the recent rains. Edward Lear would have been delighted by the views of the mountains opposite.
The melancholy end of season feelings one experiences along the routes out of Corfu Town are undeniably depressing; they’re not helped by the “end of the world” gloom which dominates most conversations in Greece.
Not a time for relaxation.
