Bears' Business, Zagori, Greece

The bears have been visiting the backyards and gardens around here.

Tourism may have gone down by 50% in the Zagori, but the bear population has inceased by 100%.

Is there a correlation?

The bears are after the cornel berries (crana) and plums.

The decline in the numbers of sheep and goats has also encouraged bears to be bold and to come into the villages, and the great reduction in grazing livestock has provided the bears with much more cover.

It adds to the general anxiety in this part of the country.

Three gun shots in the middle of the night (October 5), from a nearby shotgun.
Hopefully just to scare away the bears.

Should I mention the bear market?
