The Litany of Saint Spyridon’s holy relic on the 11th of August celebrates the Saint's saving of the island from the Ottomans, in 1716. The slow religious procession involves a number of stops en route where prayers and thanks are offered to the island's Patron Saint.

What is particularly interesting is the voice-over commentary, spoken in conservative Katharevousa (purified) Greek.

This film from the 1950's reflects the period described evocatively in the novel, "The Cat of Portovecchio, Corfu Tales", by Maria Strani-Potts.
