Poundbury, Dorchester: Shared Space Traffic Scheme, Complaints from Blind Campaigners

Prince Charles' village traffic scheme at centre of complaints from blind campaigners, Telegraph

"The Royal National Institute of Bind People (RNIB), whose patron is the Queen, has called on Charles' Duchy of Cornwall to install street furniture in Poundbury, Dorset, as a matter of urgency.
The village has introduced a shared space in Queen Mother Square to be used by cars and pedestrians without any traffic lights, kerbs, road markings or crossing points.
RNIB campaigners claim to have received complaints from blind and partially-sighted people when negotiating the area. One man, who said he was almost hit by a car when crossing the square, described it as a "complete free for all".
