I discovered something new today, at the Rizareios Exhibition Centre, Monodendri.
There are two carved stones, one set on either side of the old Pantazis mansion's main entrance gate; they represent breasts; they were intended to bring health, nurture, good fortune and fertility to the household.
I had never noticed them before. Dimitra Balatsou, the helpful and welcoming manager, kindly pointed them out. George Seferis would have appreciated them.

Wonderful photo exhibition. Worth the trip! . . . and I imagine the adolescent boys of Mondentri were thrilled with their own discovery of those stone breasts (before the internet, of course!)
