Earth Cry, Peter Sculthorpe; with Didjeridoo

Peter Sculthorpe's work Earth Cry still resonates, with the powerful didjeridoo introduction by William Barton.

I much prefer the Naxos recording, just for Barton's contribution.

"In ‘Earth Cry’ Sculthorpe wanted to write a ‘quick and joyous’ response to the Australian landscape, but felt that the piece must also reflect his distress at the self-interest of our culture, and his belief that we should be listening to the ‘cry of the Earth, as the Aborigines have done for many thousands of years’. These contrasting moods of joy and pain are central to the structure of the work".
