Corfu Art History: The Monk (The Monk Disturbed), Stefanos Sgouros, 1940; Ochi Day; Invasion

"Stefanos Sgouros, born Poulades, Corfu, 1924; later settled in Ano Korakiana.
Son and student of the painter/icon painter Dionysios Sgouros (1887-1977).
Stefanos continued his study in painting at the Institute Volonta of Rome; graduated 1952".

I imagine that his father Dionysios probably helped him with the painting, The Monk (sometimes known as The Startled Monk, or The Monk Disturbed)

The Monk
A Song by Klaus-Konrad Knopp and Raul Scacchi:

“If bonds weren’t broken while you were still living,
Don’t hope for deliverance the moment you die.
Whatever you find here, is what you’ve found there.
Or else, you’re bound to dwell in the city of Death.”

“So how on earth can we find our redemption,
 Our place in God’s design?”
“There’s no other way but to give up presumption:
Your endless “me”, your selfish “mine”.

And though your heart weeps as it loses false pleasures
Your spirit rejoices in newly found treasures.

A friend of Raul's posted the song on YouTube - but the singer is Kaliroe Raouzeou, not Corina Hamilton on this track
