Australian Art, Chinese Art, Two Surveys in London
I managed to see two outstanding exhibitions in London over the last two days.
The Victoria and Albert Museum's Masterpieces of Chinese Painting was both interesting and illuminating (information here); the Australia exhibition at the Royal Academy was brilliant and inspiring (more information and images).
The Chinese art is fascinating, but in many cases I find the poetry more evocative than the paintings.
Sorry, Waldemar.
Both "once-in-a-lifetime" opportunities.
Don't miss Australia, whatever you do.
Some of the other artists I would have liked to have seen represented in the exhibition:
Garry Shead (eg from the D. H. Lawrence in Australia or The Queen, Royal Suite, Encounters with Royalty series)
Harry Wedge
Judy Watson
Mithinari Gurruwiwi
