Belmont House SOS: Former Lyme Regis Home of John Fowles

An appeal from The Landmark Trust

"Your support is urgently needed to reach our appeal target to save Belmont in Lyme Regis. This house is the only surviving personal monument to Eleanor Coade, the most important woman in 18th-century British architecture; and home for forty years to influential 20th-century author, John Fowles. The decorative iron balcony, which provided panoramic sea views, is now degraded and unstable and the parapet on the famous facade is sagging dangerously. With the building decaying fast, we have decided to start work this winter".

"Please help us raise the remaining £393,000 to prevent Belmont sliding still further towards dereliction".
