The poem has been set to music by Hugh Wood,  op. 22 no. 4 (1977-82), for high voice and piano, from Graves Songs Set II, no. 4.

Five Songs for High Voice and Piano was premiered by Lorna Anderson and Malcolm Martineau at the Canterbury Festival in September 1987.
