"Fotograf Spyros Vangelakis har skildrat personliga livsöden i de fiskebyar som tillverkar bottarga –Medelhavets kaviar.

Personerna som porträtteras berättar om sina liv vid havet och nära jorden. Om att förflyttas men också om att återvända hem. Om att längta tillbaka till sin plats. Dessa berättelser är typiska för Greklands 1900-tal. Men bilderna är också ögonblick ur vardagen, som visar på länken mellan dagens och gårdagens värld i denna nordliga del av Grekland.

Bilderna i denna utställning är fotograferade under de senaste tio åren. De är tagna i nordvästra Grekland i området som heter Epirus, särskilt kring Amvrakikos-bukten intill Joniska havet. Området är rikt på historia och de många antika och medeltida lämningarna vittnar om detta. Liksom stora delar av Grekland, har Epirus varit under grekiskt, romerskt, bysantiskt, venetianskt och osmanskt styre.

Syftet med dessa fotografier är just att blicka tillbaka i tiden. Att finna bilder som tar med oss på en resa bland mänskliga öden, seder och bruk. Vi får till exempel möta fiskare som under flera generationer utfört sitt yrke på samma sätt".

The tendering process moves on apace. The bidding competition concerning exploration rights in the 23 Greek blocks is in its final stages, according to Ta Kerkyraika Nea today (Friday 10 October).

When will they start serious drilling on the mainland and in sensitive areas and exploration blocks in the seas off the North-West of Corfu, Paxos and Antipaxos?
