Britain’s theatres in the 21st century; Renovating historic theatres; Banning Eating in Theatres

One reason I don't miss London, or going to see a play very often -

"Going to the theatre can feel like an exercise in discomfort. From half-broken seats and bad sightlines to cramped foyers, many of Britain’s historic venues are in urgent need of an upgrade".

The next play I am going to see is Hedda Gabler, (in the comfortable local Odeon cinema, by live satellite transmission, with good sound and close-ups; a pity about the noisy sweet-wrappers and pop-corn).

Update: not only a deeply disappointing production - had to leave both "The Tempest" and "Hedda Gabler" at the first intermissions, because of people eating crisps, drinking wine and talking during the opening acts. Impossible to enjoy either play.
