Dorset: Public Art in Weymouth and Portland; Shaun Seaman

Public Art in Weymouth & Portland

Legacy Trail Way Points - This is a work I much admire:

"Artist: Shaun Seaman (dry stone walling), various Artists from the Portland Sculpture and Quarry Trust and Sarah Gilpin (carving/lettering), 2013/14. Materials: Portland Stone

Seven unique stone ‘way points’ punctuate the 20 km Legacy Trail running from the Lorton valley at Littlemoor, via Lodmoor and Radipole Lake nature reserves, following the route of the old Portland railway line along the Rodwell Trail to the Isle of Portland and Portland Bill. The waypoints, dry stone wall constructions in Portland stone, are places to enjoy the local surroundings and wildlife. Each includes carvings of animals and plants which can be found in the area".
