Benjamin Britten, Metamorphoses After Ovid for Solo Oboe; Aurora Ensemble Concert
This recording is by Nancy Ambrose King
Pan
Phaeton
Niobe
Bacchus
Narcissus
Arethusa
Last night I much enjoyed hearing Pan and Bacchus performed by Gwenllian Davies (oboe): echoes of Ancient Greece, introduced with great wit, humour and charm by Gwenllian Davies.
The whole concert by a talented wind trio (Andrew Mason, clarinet; Gwenllian Davies, oboe; Stuart Russell, bassoon) from the Aurora Ensemble Wind Quintet, was exceptional and delightful.
