Juliette Greco, A Radio Portrait
BBC Radio 4 IPlayer, Comme Je Suis (a bookmark for later listening).
Je suis comme je suis (YouTube)
I haven't been a particular enthusiast for French song, but I've always appreciated a little Juliette Greco, Edith Piaf (Non, je ne regrette rien), Anne Sylvestre (Bleu), and the grandchildren's favourite, Sophie Forte.
Sophie Forte sings.
A very different tradition.
Sophie Forte and Anne Sylvestre both sing different repertoires for children and for adults.
I always liked Anne Sylvestre's 1970 LP, Abel, Cain, Mon Fils. About Anne Sylvestre
Back in the 60s, the only French singer we seemed to know about was Francoise Hardy.
Here she is in Swinging London
Before then there was Bardot. Le Soleil.
Update: Bardot at 80, Her Life and Times In Pictures, The Guardian, Sept 2014
