Nina In Erbil...and a tango with cross-cultural appeal
Nina-Maria, TV Studio, Erbil (Arbil), Iraqi Kurdistan (an autonomous region of northeastern Iraq).
She's just tweeted about a lovely Kurdish song she's discovered. It turns out to be a translation of a song by Haris Alexiou (To Tango tis Nefelis), which is in fact a composition by Loreen McKennitt (Tango to Evora). Alexiou wrote Greek lyrics for the melody.

On the subject of the death penalty in the USA (see Lexington, above), here's a photo from the early 1970's, of D K Toteras touring California with a replica of the gas chamber on the back of a pick-up truck, protesting against the use of the gas chamber/death penalty in California, as a cruel and unnatural punishment:
