Edward Lear, Corfu Programme; Mushroom Festival, Zagori; Yiannis Chaldoupis; Moukliomos; Γιάννης Χαλδούπης
The official Corfu programme continues today.
In Epirus we have the Festival of Mushrooms, with free mushroom soup, a barbeque and dancing at Ano Pedina. It's still going on.
Tomorrow the participants will be looking for truffles in the woods- if they're not too tired after a night's dancing to a fabulous band called Moukliomos, which plays traditional Epirot music as well as an exciting hybrid blues-jazz form they call "Gypsy Rock Folk Jazz", lead by brilliant clarinet player Yiannis Chaldoupis, from Parakalamos.
Lear would have liked the mushrooms and the views. Maybe he would have taken off to the monastery in Lake Pamvotis, Ioannina, for a bit of peace and quiet.
