A.A.Gill's review in the Sunday Times Culture Section (16 October, 2011) is not going to win him many friends:
"This was a travel programme that immediately made you want to go on holiday- not to Greece, obviously. Perhaps Turkey: Greece with better food."
I look forward to Corfucius' comments on Episode Two.

ReplyDeletenote the reference to staunchest local anglophiles and tremble. now i know why none of the real folks here saw la lumley sashaying around in may. her minders and guide/advisors are the kassiopied-noir variety.
watched last nights episode. loved it, most impressed. jl's breathy voice and eternal astonishment is tailor-made for the fleshpots of corfu and i just bet they corralled all the exhibits A of the local toffs. i shall be sitting there tweeting and tapping in very real time.

ReplyDeleteJust seen Part 2, Corfu and Northern Greece. Some nice shots of Kalami and Kouloura etc, but she got the Durrell Brothers confused. The White House was of course where Lawrence lived, not Gerald.
ReplyDeleteI was glad to see she went to Zitsa and spent some time on Byron's visit (and role in Greece). The thunderstorm was the highlight!
